CARE Grief Counseling
ANAK KO founder, Elaine Dispo-Rendón, Ph.D., GC-C, PGSS-C, now is an AIHCP-AAGS Certified Grief Counselor & Pet-Loss Grief Support Specialist, as of May 2022. During the week following her certification completion, the school shooting took place at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, so she offered virtual grief counseling services to anyone affected by this tragedy. As someone who has experienced disenfranchised grief & trained in grief support, Elaine can serve & help others healthily cope with loss—including a loved one’s death, displacement or separation, plus sudden or stigmatized losses (like suicide)—as well as other major life transitions—which can be health- or career-related. Grief sessions for new bereaved parents are pro bono (free of charge) and on a sliding scale (reduced rate) for grievers of other losses—these support grief and aren’t intended to treat for mental illness or relationship issues; those seeking professional help for disorders are advised to turn to a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and/or mental health/psychiatry professional, or LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist) for marriage and family intervention. While there is no cost for recently bereaved parents for this nonprofit service, in-kind contributions of any total are appreciated toward aforementioned ANAK KO LILO.
